Give Us Strength- J.D. Gordon

Give us strength…
To do the right
As we face the storm, throughout the day and by night

Give us strength…
To separate love from emotions
One is a mere feeling the other is a decision, an action

Give us strength…
Throughout our learning and labouring
So we don’t miss the essential cues of living

Give us strength…
To bring you more joy
And bring each other even more strength

Give us strength…
To reach out and touch somebody’s hands
And daily help someone to walk in your divine plan

Give us strength…
This is our daily prayer
We pray now to you, Abba Father

(Strength, as defined by American Heritage Dictionary is “The state, property, or quality of being strong…The ability to maintain a moral or intellectual position firmly.”)
Phil 4: 13 ‘I can do everything through Him who gives me Strength’

My Past-DOOR-Future: J.D. Gordon

After I walked through the door, it was still immediately behind me. Its shadow was still on my heels. If I had made just one step backwards I would once again slip back through the door. I would have hit reverse into a place I so desperately wanted to walk away from. I have been longing for the change. I dreamt many nights about it. Now as I am standing right next to the door, I must decide whether I am at its ‘entrance’ or at its ‘exit’. I have walked through the door; I must hold my head up, look straight ahead, step forward one step at a time.

Soon the door was a little distant away and to go back would take some falling back, some letting go and some backward thinking. But as I journeyed further and further away, I resisted the thought of going back more and more. Soon the door had become but a small part of my distant past. My emotions started playing tricks on me again so I asked myself, “Are you running?” “Yes! I am running”, I answered myself. I spoke to myself and encouraged myself with certainty that God would see me through.

My past is my past and I must past it to move forward.
If the past keep haunting you, touching you on your shoulder every now and again, don’t look back, move straight ahead. Speak to yourself in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Make melody in your heart to the Lord.
For inside these doors lies my past, your past, but I have walked out, I have moved on, I am not looking back, that is a fact, and I believe I was made for better, so too were you.

The Mind That I Hide- D.A. Dobbs

Inside my head, is a peculiar mind
A mind one can't fathom
Or even begin to understand
In some situations, it's very helpful
In others, it was a detriment
And the thoughts that used to pass through
I cannot even begin to comment

In my mind, I see people and things
Far more than I really should
In my mind some people annoy me
But the thought never left that neighbourhood
In my mind I've had thoughts of death
And inflicting pain
But if i did that, I wouldn't have anything to gain

My mind acts as a filter, and weeds out the few
who it thinks are genuwine, just one and two
And it also plays out scenarios
That i'd want  to happen based on intense emotions
My mind, the killer is what some call it
But that's not what it is
It just overworks, overthinks, and over-imagines

It used to hurt, now it tends to heal
It used to connive others, but now it's real
It used to kill others, now it tries to save.
It used to bury others in body bags
In shallow graves
But now it's transformed, clean, and renewed
It's because of Christ why it never killed you

Designed by Purpose and Purposed by Design- D.A. Dobbs

From birth to modern age
I've discovered many things
From baby days to teen years
I've learnt many ways

I've learnt to play music
From hitting couches, to dining tables and doors
Playing with toy pianos
And hitting rocks on ceramic tiles

I've been a fluent speaker
Younger days till old
Been able to photograph with my mind
And write exemplary

I've had many interesting dreams
Like that of Joseph the dreamer
Drawing was a skill aquired
From pre-preschool years

Finger painting and crayon drawings
And out of line colouring in colouring books
The walls were my drawing board
And pencils were the frame

"We are lucky cows"
The first song I've learnt to sing
Now persons anxiously await
For the dynamic voice that's buried within

All these things happened for a reason
And it happens to all of us
We find that these designed us for purpose
And in latter years, purposed by design

I Believe... by D.A. Dobbs

Firstly, I believe in God and His works
I believe in love
I believe in hard times
And that good times will come after
I believe in having nothing
And having multiples of what was present before it became nothing
I believe people make mistakes
And are able to become better people from them
I believe people can want mulitple things at once
But will eventually learn satisfaction and humility
I believe that people can be selifish
But will eventually learn generosity if shown
I believe people will hurt others conciously or sub-consiously
But will eventually learn the arts of forgiveness and temperance
I believe you can be surprised by life
And at the same time be expecting things from it
I believe not everyone will like you
Even at your best
I believe in happy endings to every situation
Even if a happy ending seems unrealistic
And most importantly
I believe that God holds all lives in His hands
And that He's able to mold and shape it
To His satisfaction

You Will Never See Me Fall- Joyce Alcantara

You may see me struggle
but you won't see me fall.
Regardless if I'm weak or not I'm going to stand tall.
Everyone says life is easy
but truly living it is not.
times get hard,
people struggle
and constantly get put on the spot.
I'm going to wear the biggest smile
even though I want to cry.
I'm going to fight to live
even though I'm destined to die.
and even though it's hard and I may struggle through it all.
you see me struggle...you will NEVER see me fall.

Comfort Me - Diana M

Lord, I need to be rocked, as if to go to sleep.
Father, it’s to my spirit that I need for you to speak.
Some words of reassurance that it’ll be okay...
Some kind and psalm-like melody, to help me find my way

Out of this web I’ve woven, which is my tangled past
And free me from the weight when I feel that I can’t last
Another minute from the pressure that boils from within,
Lord, when all else fails me, help me to begin

To seek You and Your comfort and know without a doubt
That this test too, could come from you and I’ll soon be let out,
Of the holes that I have dug for myself, some which are quite deep.
And I’ll soon be filling them up with the dust I shake off my feet

Then I can stand before You worthy and stand before You bold,
As the treasures for my life on earth you’ve given to me...unfold.

Three Types of Friends

There are 3 types of friends that come into anyone's life: confidants, comrades, and constituents.

1. Confidants: They love you unconditionally. These are the friends that are for you. Whatever you're into, they're into. These are the people who you can trust and tell anything. You cry, they cry with you. You laugh, they laugh with you. Jump off a cliff, they jump with you. That's the closeness of a confidant. In the life of every christian, a confidant IS necessary. You can't be a David unless you find a Jonathan in your life. You will need that person who will motivate you when you need it, who gives you their 100% support, and who is able to scold you when you're wrong. If that person cannot find it within them self to tell u that u are wrong, they are NOT a confidant.

2. Constituents: These are the people that are not for you, but they are for what you are for. They work with you, team up with you, and labour with you but they aren't for u. Whatever you have that can benefit them, they will stick to you and use whatever it is you have to benefit them until someone comes with something better. When that happens, they leave you hanging. Persons often mistake their constituents for their confidants. You have to be careful in telling these persons your dreams. If you tell them your dreams, when they leave you, they will go and fulfill your dream without you. They were never entirely for you in the first place, so whether or not they hurt you doesn't really matter to them.

3. Comrades: These people are neither for you, nor are they for what you are for, but rather they are against what you are against. They team up with you to fight a greater enemy, but once victory is achieved they leave u. These kinds of friends are like scaffolding- They are there when the building is being built, but when they leave, the building remains standing. If they leave, you shouldn't be sad or depressed because these people were never for u in the first place.

Some persons that are placed in your life are only placed there for a season. Once their service time is up, they leave. Some come only to teach a lesson or to open up your eyes, then leave. The others (confidants) are those who God placed specially in you life to help you get through it. These persons help you to excel and are there for u every step of the way. If you manage to have at least 2 in your entire lifetime, then you are a very blessed person. Do you know who your confidant(s) is/are? Or are you mistaking comrades and constituents for them?
