Thought #1

“Because God is never cruel, there is a reason for all things. We must know the pain of loss; because if we never knew it, we would have no compassion for others, and we would become monsters of self-regard, creatures of unalloyed self-interest. The terrible pain of loss teaches humility to our prideful kind, has the power to soften uncaring hearts, to make a better person of a good one.”
-Unknown

Everyone makes mistakes.

Everyone makes mistakes, and everyone has some aspect of their past that they are not proud of. The instant someone brings it up bring back memories of hurt, pain, rejection, abuse, etc. Also, everyone has struggles in life that they think are impossible to overcome.
Know this: YOU ARE NOT YOUR PAST, NEITHER DO YOU RESIDE IN THE PAST. When persons know that you were a certain way in the past, they may use it to justify present/future arguments. Though they may talk, you should know within yourself  that your past DOES NOT define who you are in the present, or the future. God can change anyone, even the most evil of persons residing in the world. Everyone can be an overcomer with the right attitude and right company. You have power to help shape your own future.

It is not what people say that defines you, but it's what God says that does.

Ecclesiastes 5:10

Whoever loves money will never have enough money;
Whoever loves wealth  will not be satisfied with it. This is also useless.

To The Hurt and Brokenhearted...

Ever had one of those moments where you have found your self asking "Why me God?" Sometimes we go through some situations, and due to the amount of hurt or fear it causes us, we in turn question God. In doing that, you are questioning God's authority. God has his reasons for allowing you to go through certain situations. All trials come only to make you stronger, so instead of questioning God's authority, you ask Him to take you through it. God doesn't cause you to experience hurt unless He wants to change you. Change comes through brokenness and submission. People are of the idea that God chooses the people who are "holy" or perfect. That is not so. He chooses those who are broken, and have messed up a lot during their lifetime. Examples can be pulled from the Bible: David caused Bathsheba to cheat on Uriah; Moses became drunk at one point; Abraham told a lie that his wife was his sister and almost caused a king to fornicate, and his wife to commit adultery. Though all these things happened, these men were some of the most powerful agents of God in the bible. In that same way, God want to take the hurt and broken and transform them into vessels for Christ, fit for working in the kingdom. So when you go through these tough and challenging situations, just remember that God is taking you on a journey of change, and that they are only there to strengthen you.

The Ghosts of my Past- D.A. Dobbs

From the actions of my past living
I've created many grotesque beings
Ghosts that seem to haunt and linger
In my valley of silent screams

There are times when my overactive mind
Plunges itself to a hollow space
And that's the time these ghosts attack me
Leaving my mind in it's desolate place

In years gone by people would normally say
There's the girl that took my stuff
Left me in pain and scars
Then walked away

Another few at one point could relay
compulsive liar! believe nothing she says
The ghosts attack again
Twisting my mind through a complex maze

But, those times are gone
And a new being being formed
The ghosts that drilled and voided my mind
Left after it got transformed

You too can kill those ghosts
That linger in from your past living
Just transform the pattern of your thoughts
And start living in the light

Walking Minds- J.D. Gordon

If you see a stray mind anywhere near you, please send it home

My mind went walking last evening and has not returned

So I woke up today not being in my right mind

As I got to my office someone said, “Looks like you’ve lost your mind”

So I shared my ordeal

Someone over-heard the conversation and told me I could check the ‘mind-depot’ located on Trafalgar Road, Kingston

I took some time off from work and went in search of my mind

Much to my surprise when I got there, I saw all types of minds, big and small

I saw criminal minds, gay minds, priestly minds, beggar minds, whore minds, godly minds, miserable minds, confused minds, perverted minds, hallucinated minds

Then there was an interesting section with some wreckage such as, make up your mind,

‘Mind Over Matter,’ ‘Out of Sight - Out of Mind’, ‘Mind Your Own Business,’ ‘Would You Mind’, ‘Pay No Mind’, ‘Mind Games’, ‘Mind your manners’, ‘Mind your own beeswax’ and ‘Mind Your Ps and Qs’

Then there were some unused minds in a huge warehouse, there were so many of them it seems as though no one had come to claim these: I saw ‘Peace of mind’, ‘the mind of Christ’ and a whole lot more.

I have since written this blog to tell you that you too can recover your mind, some folks only purpose is to make you lose it; you must be determined to keep it and preserve it.

When your mind goes walking, make sure it returns

Friendship- D.A. Dobbs

A friend is like a flower
Roses to be precise
Or a brand new golden ring
Or a pair of lucky dice
A friend is like an owl
Both strange and yet still wise
Or somewhat like a ghost
Whose spirit never dies.
A friend is like a heart
That endures to the very end
Where would we be today?
If we never had anyone to hold dear and call a ‘friend’

Eyes Of Silence- D.A. Dobbs

Some of us have silent eyes
That only observe but refuse to speak
They keep all thoughts caged inside
And the need that their heart seeks

What exactly will they see?
Will they feel, love, laugh, cry?
Those silent eyes never tell what they wish for
You'll never see the turmoil of their own hell

What makes them lock all emotion deep inside
And stand in a treacherous deep, lonely in their mind
And Never want to call or reach to another
Because of a fear inside that renders them blind

But eventually,
One day...
Those silent eyes may suddenly call out
And breakaway from when loneliness overtakes fear
And love overrules all inner animosity and doubt

Nothing Happens on It's own- D.A. Dobbs

Lying around, Thinking deeply
About life and its crooked path
But what some of us fail to do
Is try to understand the math
We all have different sorrows
And for some, problems seem to have grown
But nothing
Except nothing
Happens on its own

There are some people in our world
Living with fears and broken dreams
And no one sees their inner tears
And their smiles are not what they seem
You may think that nobody cares
But remember God is always on His throne
And that nothing
Except nothing
Happens on its own

You think your life is messed up
And you may be forced to think hell is a place called home
And that your person is void and meaningless
And your soul is just as whispy as foam
But know that Jesus is always there for you
Keep the faith and in his peace you would have grown
And always remember that nothing
Except nothing
Happens on its own

In Search Of Myself- D.A. Dobbs

Finding myself was the hardest task I've ever done..
Broken fingernails and dirty hands were the result..
Of digging through the rubble I had become.
Being lost in a world of despair..
Is like that of a horrifying nightmare.

Paths lined with terrifying trees...
Whose branches claw at my skin..
And the darkness leaves me scarred..
Afraid of what I'll find if I venture further within.

And it seems like I have nowhere to turn..
Each way looks the same..
Evil and menacing..
As if my very soul it craves.

But courage and determination pulls me through..
As I turn within myself and find that salvation has always been there inside me..
And as I leave along that sun-lit way..
I realise that life becomes easier..
Day by day.

Heaven's Bliss- D.A. Dobbs

In all my wanderings, round this world of care,
In all my griefs, god has given me my share;

My vexations past, I still have hopes to live
and Wear a crown of gold, and walk streets of the same

Imagination fondly stoops to trace,
The parlour splendors of that festive place.

My journey alone, swift winged arrows of light,
Temptations ob pause behind, the days are moving by swiftly.

Let the rich deride, proud disdain,
A blissful soul, simple blessings attain.

To me more dear, congenial to my heart,
Memories cherish, friends to part.

That light whose smiles kindle the Universe,
Darkness crumble away, leave behind the curse,
Condemned to hope's delusive mind

Obedient passions, will resign,
Alas! Goodness, Gracious, my Heart Opine!

My Shell- D.A. Dobbs

In this shell..I find solace..
From the terrors of this world...
And the horrors of my mind..

In this shell..I find love..
And all other facets of happiness..
And what makes me smile..

In this shell...I make peace..
With those who have betrayed me..
And those who have hurt me..

In this shell..i watch my life roll by..
From a safe distance..
Careful not to disturb what makes me think..

Of why my soul shivers in the night..
Or why my eyes widen at the sight..of..
Fear...

Fear that grips my body...
Squeezes it to a pulp..
Drops me to the floor..
And leaves me to die..

Die...to live again..?
Live again..to die?
An endless cycle of confusion..

What is my purpose?
Do I live..or exist?

In this shell..I find this answer..
And that is to....exist.

Bubbles- D.A. Dobbs

Have you ever watched as bubbles grew?
Did you see them float away as the charismatic wind blew?
Did they seem ubiquitous until the person stopped blowing them?
With their rainbow edge visible against cerulean skies?
The broken being lifted away
And freedom is underlaid to someone with imagination.

Why Judge? - D.A. Dobbs

Who is a man to judge another
Just by the way he looks outside ?
I'm sure many stories are never judged
By the cover under which they reside

Who is a man to judge another
Just by the way he dresses?
If you don't like it, that's your problem
Don't go publicly addressing it

Who is a man to judge another
Just by imagining what he does?
They never stop to find the truth
Or find out why he goes

Who is a man to judge another
Just by his mistakes?
Everyone has a past they're not proud of
Just think of yours for heaven's sake!

Who is a man to judge another
By past events so great?
You can't exprect to break a brother
and enter through heaven's gates

"Judge not, and ye be not judged"
that's the quote of the day
a man should never have to be defined
by what others have to say

What Would Jesus Do? -D.A. Dobbs

As I live my life throughout today
Trying to make peace with you
Keep one thought throughout my mind
And ask "What would Jesus do?"

when people speak evil against my being
And speak words that aren't true
Keep the motto on my mind
"What would Jesus do?"

When an enemy of mine asks for help
Or even just a minute or two
Instead of thinking of the pain they've caused
Let me think "What would Jesus do?"

when I'm down in the dumps and feeling pain
And my hearts changes colour to blue
give me wisdom and help me remember
"What would Jesus do?"

When faced with daily decisions
help me be honest, fair and true
Let this be my thought to live by
"What would Jesus do?"

Let me promise that with each new day
I'll try to live like You
And that tomorrow i'll be guided by the motto
"What would Jesus do?"
